The company Alusid makes use of unwanted manufacturing materials that would be otherwise discarded. These materials are put through an ingenious, environmentally low-impact process to give them a new lease of life. The result is Silicastone, a recycled surface material available in tiles and other solid surfaces. It is made from glass, ceramics, and mineral waste. The material is versatile and can be used for wall coverings, worktops, tabletops or even furniture.
